City Council Adopts
Hazard Mitigation Plan
The Dillon City Council passed resolution #04-17 adopting the 2017 Dillon County Hazard Mitigation plan. All present voted in favor.

Third Reading Of
Ordinance To
Rezone Property For
Inland Port Passes
The third reading of an ordinance to rezone the property for the inland port passed at the May 24th meeting of the Dillon County Council.
It is an ordinance by Dillon County Council to amend the official zoning map of Dillon County to rezone a parcel of land known at tax map Nos.; portion of #80 (parcel 92) 68.62 acres, portion of 80 (parcel 17) 49.69 acres, portion of 68 (parcel 130) 39.88 previous property owner(s): E. Cullen Bryant and Joseph Coward, current property owner South Carolina State Ports Authority, tax map NO. 080-00-00-112. Location is along west side of CSX RR from W. Countryside Road to W. Fairfield Road, Dillon, S.C. 29536, change from rural (RU) to general commercial (GC) in order to operate the inland port.
Councilman T.F. “Buzzy” Finklea, Jr., made the motion to approve the ordinance seconded by Councilman Harold Moody. The motion passed.

Accommodations Tax
Report Given To
Dillon County Council
The accommodations tax report was presented to the Dillon County Council at the May 24th meeting by Charles Taylor.
The following projects were presented:
PROJECTS FOR LATTA: Latta Springfest $4,250; Edwards House Museum $1,000; Latta Community Singers $1,000; Harvest Day Celebration $500; Latta Christmas Tour of Homes $2,500; Latta Revitalization Projects $3,000; Total for Latta Projects $12,250.
PROJECTS FOR LAKE VIEW: Lake View Christmas on the Boulevard $4,250; Pigs and Pearls $2,500; Farm to Table $2,500; Total for Lake View Projects $9,250.
PROJECTS FOR DILLON COUNTY: Dillon County Celebrate Main Street $6,000; Tastes of Dillon County $7,000; Dillon County Theatre $6,000; The Criterion Club $5,000; On-Going Public Awareness (Pop-ups) $9.000; Total for Dillon County Projects $33,000.
The projects totaled $54,500. Taylor also spoke about welcome signs that the county requested. Four signs amounts to $7,220.
Taylor said there is $1,812.57 that he would ask to be applied to the signs. He said they were also going to use $5,407.43 of line item 5 with balance going to chamber for advertising and promotion (20,080.89).
Councilman James “Hoghead” Campbell made a motion to approve the accommodations tax requests. This was seconded by Councilman Jack Scott. The motion was approved.

Strickland Appointed
To Dillon County
Public-Private
Partnership Board
The Dillon County Council voted to appoint Alan Strickland to the Dillon County Public-Private Partnership Economic Development Board at their May 24th meeting. The motion was made by Councilman Jack Scott and seconded by Councilman Robbie Coward. All approved.

Dillon County Council
To Hold Public Hearing
The Dillon County Council will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, July 12 at 10:00 a.m. at the Dillon County Council Chambers at the Dillon County Administrative building, 109 S. Third Avenue, Dillon.
The public hearing will be held on “An ordinance to terminate and reconvey easements granted to Dillon County by W.L. Bethea Farms, LTD. and Dillon Property Holdings, LLC by grant of right-of-way and utility easement recorded April 2, 2013, in the office of the clerk of court for Dillon County in deed book 527 at page 100.”
A copy of the ordinance may be obtained from the Dillon County Administrative (Council) Office at 109 S. 3rd Ave., Dillon. Written and oral comments will be accepted.
The notice states that “Individuals who need auxiliary aids for effective communication concerning the above meeting should contact the Dillon County’s Clerk to Council, Jamie Sue Stephens, at 843-774-1401, at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled meeting so that the necessary aids can be made available at the meeting.”

Third Reading Of
Ordinance Authorizing
Fee-In-Lieu Tax
Agreement Passes
The third reading of an ordinance authorizing the execution and delivery of a fee-in-lieu of tax agreement by and between Dillon County, South Carolina, and Perdue Foods, LLC with respect to certain economic development property in the county, whereby such property will be subject to certain payments in lieu of taxes, including the provision of certain special source credits; and other matters related thereto was passed at the May 24th meeting of the Dillon County Council.
Councilman Robbie Coward made the motion for the third reading seconded by Councilman James “Hoghead” Campbell. All approved. County Administrator Rodney Berry said he would make no comment at the request of the company.

Increases in
Rates Approved
By Dillon
City Council
At the June 12th meeting of the Dillon City Council, the council approved the final reading of the increases in water and sewer rates and sanitation rates for 2017-2018. The new rates are effective with the July billing cycle.
