Latta Junior Legion Gets Win Over Dillon

The Latta Junior Legion team came to the Dillon Memorial Stadium on Wednesday, June 7, and returned home with a 9-2 win over the Dillon Junior Legion baseball team.
Latta’s Jackson Powers pitched 4 innings and allowed 4 hits, 1 earned run, struck out 3, and walked 1 to take the win while Dillon’s John Rourke was tagged with the loss. He pitched 0 innings, allowed 2 earned runs, walked 4, and struck out no one.
Dillon utilized 7 pitchers in the game. Rourke started. Kobe King took over in the top of the first inning.
Hunter Chase Mishue took over the pitching chore in the top of the third and was replaced by Bobo McKinnon in the top of the sixth. Ahmari Bruce also pitched in the top of the sixth. Austin Tyndall came in the top of the seventh and was replaced by Davis Cook in the same inning.
Latta jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Dillon managed to get a run across in the bottom of the second inning to close the gap to 2-1. Latta managed 2 runs in the top of the third inning and added a run in the top of each the fourth and fifth innings and 2 more runs in the top of the sixth inning before Dillon could muster another run in the bottom of the sixth. Latta tagged another run in the top of the seventh inning.
Chase Mishue connected for 3 hits in 4 at-bats for Latta while Jackson Powers garnered 2 hits and 2 rbi in 3 at-bats. Pierce Watson also connected for 2 hits in 3 at-bats while Chandler Matthews picked up 2 rbi on 2 hits in 4 at-bats. Gabe Estes and Tre Anderson each garnered a hit in 2 at-bats.
John Rourke connected for 2 hits in 3 at-bats for Dillon while Collin Hamilton and Austin Tyndall each garnered 2 hits in 4 at-bats.
Dillon traveled to play Pee Dee (Kings Academy) on Friday, June 9, at 6:30 p.m. Dillon also traveled on Monday, June 12 to Marion for a 7:00 p.m. game.
Latta hosted Lake View on Friday, June 9, and on Monday, June 12, Latta hosted Pee Dee.
