Main Street United Methodist Church’s Commissioned Anthem Published, To Be Performed At Father’s Day Farewell For Pastor

Main Street United Methodist Church celebrated the Centennial Anniversary of it sanctuary last year on Sunday, May 8, 2016. As part of the celebration, Main Street commissioned Columbia, South Carolina composer Larry Shackley to compose a celebratory Anthem based on the text of Revelation 1:17-18 and 22:12-21. The Anthem for a SATB choir entitled “I Am Coming Soon” features a tenor solo and an organ and brass accompaniment. The Anthem was sung for the first time at the Centennial Celebration.

“I Am Coming Soon” has been published by Lorenz Publishing Company and bears the official dedication. This Anthem will be sung at the morning worship service on Sunday, June 18, with Shaw Thompson as the tenor soloist and trumpeters Kurt Slaughenhaupt and Kelly Jokisch and trombonists Jonathan Griggs and Derek Jokisch as part of the music at the farewell service honoring the ministry of The Reverend Bruce Sayre and his wife, Ann.

Reverend Sayre has been shepherding the congregation of Main Street for the past four years and will be moving on, in the Wesleyan tradition, to Batesburg/Leesville United Methodist Church. Please join us at the eleven o’clock worship service on June 18, 2017 as we celebrate Fathers Day with this magnificent Anthem and say “Farewell” to Pastor Bruce.
