Dillon American Legion Team Gets 11-3 Win Over Wilson

The Dillon American Legion 14-17 year-old team traveled to Wilson in the initial game of the season and returned home with an 11-3 win.
Although Jarrod Darmon was the winning pitcher for Dillon, Daniel Chestnut pitched the third and fourth innings while Jackson Hayes pitched the fifth inning and struck out 2 batters. John Rourke pitched the sixth inning and struck out all 3 while Davis Cook pitched the seventh inning and also struck out 3.
Wilson grabbed a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning before Dillon managed to take a 3-1 lead in the top of the third inning. Dillon added a run in the top of the fourth before placing 4 runs on the scoreboard in the top of the fifth inning. Wilson bounced back in the bottom of the fifth inning with a run. Dillon added another run in each of the top of the sixth and seventh innings while Wilson tacked on a run in the bottom of the seventh.
Wilson’s 3 runs were unearned.
Dillon’s Barnes Causey connected for 2 singles, a walk and a rbi in 4 at-bats while Collin Hamilton garnered a double and a rbi in 2 at-bats. Davis Cook managed a rbi and 2 walks in his trips to the plate, and Daniel Camp also connected for a single, a walk, a sac fly, 2 rbi, 2 runs scored, and 3 stolen bases in his 2 at-bats.
Dillon will host Pamplico tonight (Thursday, June 1) at 6:00 p.m at the Dillon Memorial Stadium.
