Latta’s recreational baseball, softball, and t-ball season opened this week with the tenth Ryan Michael Lee Memorial Tournament at the Latta Parks and Recreation fields.
The opening ceremony was Friday, March 31, at 6:00 p.m.
The tournament was held on Friday and Saturday, March 31 and April 1. Much preparation was necessary in order to have the tournament opening on Friday with the rain on Friday morning. Under the direction of Latta’s Parks and Recreation director, Dwayne Buckner, many volunteers jumped in to make the opening a success.
The opening ceremony was conducted by Dwayne Buckner and volunteer Ricky Bryant. A prayer was held, and the National Anthem was sung.
After each player and coach was recognized, the release of the balloons took place. Afterwards, the annual fireworks display was held. T-ball began after the opening ceremony.
