Lady Wildcats Get A Victory Over Hartsville

The Dillon Lady Wildcats varsity softball team returned from Hartsville on Thursday, April 6, with an 8-6 victory.
Tori Grimsley pitched the complete 7-inning game and allowed 7 hits, 6 runs of which 1 was earned, walked 2, and struck out 9.
Liz Stroud was tagged with the loss for the Hartsville Red Foxes. She pitched 4 innings and allowed 7 hits, 7 runs of which 5 were earned, walked 1, and struck out 2.
Dillon took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning but Hartsville quickly tied the game at 1 in the bottom of the first inning. The second inning was scoreless. However, Hartsville added 3 runs in the bottom of the third to take a 4-1 lead. The Lady ‘Cats quickly retaliated with 3 runs of their own in the top of the fourth to once again knot the score at 4 each. Hartsville regained the lead by adding a run in the bottom of the fifth inning. Dillon added 4 runs in the top of the sixth in a good offensive showing to take a 3-run lead. Hartsville fought back in the bottom of the sixth with a run of their own. Neither team was able to muster any runs in the final inning.
Dillon pounded 12 hits but committed 6 errors in the game while Hartsville managed 7 hits and did not commit any errors.
The Lady ‘Cats’ Auh’Kieria Smiling connected for 2 hits in her 5 at-bats including a home run and 3 rbi while Skyler McCoy garnered 2 hits in 4 at-bats including a double and a rbi. Ashley Phillips connected for 3 hits in 4 at-bats including a double and 3 rbi in the game.
The Red Foxes were led by Myra McDonald who was 3 for 4 at the plate with 2 rbi while Mac Bizzell was 2 for 4 with 2 rbi. Taylor Lawhon was 1 for 4 at-bats with a rbi, and Cassi Ringer had a double in 3 at-bats and a rbi.
Dillon is 12-3 for the season while Hartsville is 9-3.
