Stanley Lee Smith

HAMER – Stanley Lee Smith, 61, died Thursday, March 16, 2017 at McLeod Medical Center in Dillon. Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 26, 2017, at 3:00 p.m. at Kannaday Funeral Home Chapel in Dillon with interment in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Kannaday Funeral Home.

Mr. Smith was born in Marion County, SC, October 13, 1955, the son of the late Lee Cole Smith and Jessie Mae Samaha.  He retired from ESAB as an Electrical Engineer.  His career carried him all over the world troubleshooting and teaching welding techniques.  He traveled to Russia, China, Australia, and Mexico and many other places to instruct operators how to properly use welding equipment that he had designed. His favorite hobby was playing the guitar and he was a self-taught musician who spent many hours perfecting his art and he enjoyed teaching it to others. Stanley was a National Rifle Association (NRA) Life Member. Mr. Smith served in the 82nd Airborne in the U.S. Army and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Dillon. 

He is survived by his life companion, Linda Hyatt; brother, Lee Smith, Jr.; sisters, Gwen Smythe and Sarita Bethea; special niece and nephew Joanne and Fitzhugh Bethea, IV.  Also special to him were Brad, Chad, and Jason Snipes.
