Latta Softball Gets Win Over West Florence

Arica Gandy pitched a complete game for Latta in an  8-4 win over West Florence in Latta on Monday, March 6.
Gandy gave up 7 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3 .
Sarah Locklair was credited with the loss for the Knights while pitching 4 innings. He allowed 5 hits, 7 runs, walked 4,struck out 1,  and gave up 3 earned runs.
The Lady Vikings Kyra Grant picked up the first hit of the night with a single over third in the bottom of the first inning. Madison Owens walked placing runners on first and second with one out. Kaleigh Caulder, Latta’s catcher garnered a walk, and the bases were loaded. Genesis Anderson hit one over first for a single and 2 rbi. Camryn Sawyer hit one over second for a single. Pitcher Arica Gandy hit a grounder through second base and picked up a rbi and ended up on second.
The Lady Vikings left 2 runners on base at second and third with a 3-0 lead after the first inning.
Number 11 for West Florence hit a hot grounder by first for a single. #10 for West Florence hit a slow grounder to third and was out at first advancing the runner on first to second base.
After 1 and one-half innings the score was Latta 3 and West Florence 0.
West Florence set Latta down with 3 hitters in the bottom of the second inning.
Latta’s Arica Gandy retired the West Florence batters in the same fashion in the top of the third inning.
Macy Hyatt hit a deep one to right center for a triple to start things rolling in the bottom of the third inning for Latta. With 2 outs Camryn Sawyer was hit by a pitch, and Latta had runners on the corners. Arica Gandy was walked on a 3-2 pitch to load the bases. Riana Green lined to left and ended up on second and picked up 3 rbi. After 3 innings of play Latta was up 6-0 over West Florence.
Kyra Grant led Latta with 2 hits in 4 at-bats.
West Florence was led by Brittany Wenzi who went 2 for 4 with 2 rbi.
Latta hosted Mullins on Tuesday, March 7.
