Two LVHS Players To Play At Next Level

Two LVHS players signed to play football at the college level.
Duane “Junior” Nichols, Lake View High School quarterback, signed a letter of intent to play football at South Carolina State in Lake View on Wednesday, February 1.
While having played football for only 4 years, Duane has excelled in the sport he loves. He also plays baseball and basketball for Lake View.
In Nichols’ senior year, he completed 42 of 64 pass attempts for 1011 yards and 12 touchdowns.  He also rushed for 567 and 13 touchdowns.
His prowess of the game in due in part to his coaches and other players that he looks up to for instruction and guidance.
Although he was named the 1A Player of the Year and a Zoneman finalist, he still believes that playing on the Lake View State Championship team is his greatest accomplishment.
He has always worked hard at everything he does.  He will carry that trait with him to the college level.
He enjoys sports and being a member of the Church Youth Group.
While playing football at South Carolina State, Duane will be pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice.
Coach Daryl King stated “Junior has been a valuable member of the Lake View football team.  A four-year starter at different positions, he has earned the opportunity by the way he played. He has a bright future with State, and we appreciate what he did for the Lake View Football Team.”
Xavier “Rock” Johnson, Lake View Wild Gator stand-out linebacker signed a letter of intent to attend South Carolina State, thus fulfilling a dream to continue his pursuit of not only football but a college degree.
Since the age of 7, Johnson has played football.
After visiting South Carolina State Johnson was satisfied that this was where he wanted to further his pursuit of the game as he felt at home there.
Although Xavier has excelled in the game of football he also plays basketball and baseball at Lake View.
While being influenced by his coaches and teammates, Xavier has maintained a strict work ethic that he will take with him from the high school level to the college level.

Although he has received many accolades including All-Region three times, SCHSSR All-State three times, 1A Defensive Player of The Year, nothing seems to be more important to him than being a member of the Lake View Wild Gators  football state championship team. Now, he has new goals on his horizon. He will pursue a degree in sports management at South Carolina State.
He will take memories of the times he has shared while “hanging with his friends” in Lake View to his new college adventure.
In Xavier’s senior year at Lake View, he had 88 tackles, 2 interceptions, 4 sacks, 8 TFL, 3 fumble recoveries, and 1 fumble recovery for a touchdown.
Xavier’s parents are Felicia Henburg and Wilbur Johnson, both of whom are extremely proud of their son’s accomplishments and look forward to his excelling not only in the sport of football but also receiving a degree at South Carolina State.
Xavier attributes his success in football in part to his coaches, Daryl King, Jeffery, Ceasar, Larry Inman, Cloy Ford, Andy Ford, Jonathan Robinson, Johnny Dew, Glen Edge, Kip Herlong, all of the Lake View staff, and his rec coaches Dominic Ford, Josh Bethea, and Kenny Bethea.
Coach Daryl King commented “rock has been an outstanding player for the Lake View football team.  I am very proud of his commitment to South Carolina State and expect him to go and earn his degree and excel on the field. He has a bright future at South Carolina State, and I appreciate what he did for the Lake View Football Team.”
