Garland R. Strickland

Mr. Garland Rubin Strickland, 79, husband of Ann Bullard Strickland died Sunday, November 6, 2016 at his home after an illness.
Mr. Strickland was born November 8, 1936 in Horry County, a son of the late Everette Fulton Strickland and the late Geneva Shelley Strickland. He was a retired police officer, having served the City of Mullins for 30 years, where he was also a member of the Mullins Fire Department and Rescue Squad. Mr. Strickland was a US Army veteran. He was an avid fisherman and member of Wildlife Action. Mr. Strickland was a member of Lake View Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr. Strickland in addition to his wife of 56 years and of the home are: his Son: James Edgar “Jamie” (Rosie) Strickland of Lake View; 2 Grandsons: Justin James Strickland and Dusty Garland Strickland; 3 Step-Grandchildren: Joshua Lee (Diane) Arch, Tina Louise Arch, and Jamie Ray Bell; 3 Great Grandchildren: Danica Arch, Ava Branham and Elijah Simmons; a Brother: Bob (Dora) Strickland of Darlington; 2 sisters: Janice (Pete) Beckley of Denver, CO and Priscilla McMillan of Mullins; a sister-in-law: Bonnie Strickland of Mullins; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Strickland was predeceased by a brother, Terry B. Strickland.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 9, at the Chapel of Cox-Collins Funeral Home of Mullins, with Rev. Lyn Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Red Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Cox-Collins Funeral Home.
