Last month, the Sheriff’s Advisory Panel introduced the “Emergency Flashing Light” concept to the Dillon County Council. Council approved it unanimously.
The “Emergency Flashing Light” works like a traditional light bulb until you need a flashing light to bring attention to your home.
You can insert the bulb in any indoor or outdoor fixture, such as a porch light or outdoor lamp post. The bulb will function normally for daily use. Just flick the wall switch twice inside the house and the bulb becomes a beacon of light for someone trying to find your home, especially in rural areas where homes and house numbers are hard to see. Seconds count when an emergency vehicle is trying to find your house.
The Sheriff’s Advisory Panel and the Dillon County Council worked together and made it possible for bulbs to be provided at no cost for Dillon County Residents.
“I am proud and happy to announce that the bulbs have arrived and that you may pick up your bulb from the Sheriff’s Office,” said Sheriff Major Hulon.
Requirements, location, time and dates are listed below:
1. Must show proof of Dillon County residence;
2. Must be 65 years old or older;
3. Only one (1) bulb can be provided per household;
Pick up bulb any Friday from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. at Dillon County Judicial Center, 1033 Old Latta Highway, Dillon.
