Health and welfare teams completed the door to door wellness checks yesterday.  Over the last three days they assessed the condition of 1,795 homes and distributed food and water to residents as needed.  Composed of National Guard soldiers, SLED officers, and led by SC Forestry Commission personnel, these teams also provided citizens with information about where assistance can be obtained.

Assessment of road conditions was completed yesterday.  Currently, 20 roads across Dillon County are impassable, down from 63 yesterday.  Citizens are warned not to drive around barricades; some hazards do not become visible until it is too late.

A community meeting will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday at the City of Dillon Wellness Center (1647 Commerce Drive).  Representatives from Dillon County, DSS, DHEC, Red Cross, and others will provide information about the progress of recovery efforts and will be available to answer questions about assistance.

The SC Forestry Commission’s Incident Management Team deployed to Dillon County Wednesday to assist with Hurricane Matthew flood recovery efforts. The team is providing an organizational structure to help improve the efficiency and effectiveness of relief efforts. In addition to the SC Forestry Commission, agencies involved include Dillon County, City of Dillon, SC DSS, SC DHEC, SLED, SC Emergency Management Division, SC National Guard, American Red Cross, Town of Latta and the Town of Lake View.
