Top Candidates For Dillon Police Chief Announced

The top candidates for the City of Dillon Police Chief’s position have been announced.
The chief’s position was left vacant with the retirement of Joe Rogers in June.
The candidates met with the Dillon City Council at their meeting on Monday night.
The top candidates are David Lane, Kimberly Nelson, and Jamie G. Seales.
David Lane is currently a captain at the City of Dillon Police Department. He has been employed by the department for the past 18 years and has worked his way from cadet to captain.
Lane currently lives in the City of Dillon. He and his children are members of Main Street United Methodist Church.
Lane is a graduate of Latta High School and attended Campbell University and Florence-Darlington Technical College where he studied criminal justice.
During his career with the City of Dillon Police Department, he was the first canine handler for the department and was a supervisor for the Interstate Criminal Enforcement Team.
Some of his certifications include Firearms Instructor, Specific Skills Instructor, Taser Instructor, Rifle Instructor, Glock Armorer, and Canine Handler.
Kimberly Nelson of Hartsville is  currently a lieutenant with the Darlington Police Department and serves also as public information officer.
She is a graduate of Dillon High School. She received an associates degree in Criminal Justice from Florence-Darlington Technical College, a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Coker College, a Master’s of Arts degree in management and leadership from Webster University, and a post-master’s degree in criminal justice from Northcentral University.
Nelson’s areas of expertise include law enforcement and principles, victims services, school tactical response training, development and implementation of youth programs, emergency management and preparedness, community policing, diversity training, crime prevention, tactical planning, investigative study, policy development and application, budget development, public safety preparation, and quality performance and evaluation.
Nelson is a member of Passageway of Hope that provides temporary shelter for abused and battered women in the Pee Dee Region of South Carolina, a youth minister at Nazareth Apostolic Church in Hartsville, a Pilot Club member, lead school resource officer over six schools, an administrative team member with the Darlington Police Department, and a Florence-Darlington Technical College Criminal Justice Academy Board member. Jamie G. Seales has been in law enforcement for almost 19 years and is currently a Lieutenant-Criminal and Narcotics Investigation with the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office.
Seales is a 2012 graduate of the prestigious Law Enforcement Commanders School at the National Advocacy Center in Columbia. He graduated from Marlboro County High School, Francis Marion University with a BS in Political Science and has a two-year degree from Northeastern Technical College in Criminal Justice. He began his career in 1997 with Probation and Parole and in 2005 became an investigator with the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office. He then went on to SLED where he was an agent in the Crime Scene Unit. In 2007, he returned to the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office. He was reared in McColl and currently lives in Bennettsville.
The chief is expected to be announced later this summer.
