Palmetto Fellows Scholarship Applications Being Accepted

Last year 2,698 of South Carolina’s outstanding high school seniors were awarded the prestigious Palmetto Fellows Scholarship.  
The Palmetto Fellows award is a state  sponsored scholarship established by the General Assembly to recognize the state’s academically  talented high school seniors and encourage them to attend public or independent colleges  within South Carolina.  
Palmetto Fellows may receive up to $6,700 their freshman year, and  $7,500 (or $10,000 if in an eligible science/math major) in subsequent years.   
The S.C. Commission on Higher Education has provided Palmetto Fellows Scholarship  application materials for the Late Award to each South Carolina high school and Home School  Association.  Seniors who graduate by the end of the academic year ending in May/June and  who meet the eligibility requirements listed below should contact their High School guidance  counselor or Home School Association director immediately about obtaining application  information.  The Late Award application deadline is June 15, 2016.    
In order to be eligible to apply, seniors must meet at a minimum the following criteria:  
—Score at least a 1200 on the SAT (or 27 on the ACT) by the June test  administration, earn a minimum 3.50 cumulative GPA based on the SC  Uniform Grading Policy (UGP) at the end of the senior year; and rank in  the top six percent of either their sophomore, junior, or senior year;    OR
—Score at least 1400 on the SAT (or 32 on the ACT) by the June test  administration and earn a minimum 4.00 cumulative GPA based on the  SC UGP at the end of the senior year (date calculated on transcript must  be June 15th or earlier)  
—Be a legal resident of South Carolina and be a U.S. citizen/permanent resident  (green card holder); and   
—Have applied or been accepted for admission to an eligible South Carolina public  or independent four-year college/university for the fall term immediately  following high school graduation
