Genealogical Chapter To Meet

On April 10, the Pee Dee Chapter, South Carolina Genealogical Society promises an exciting meeting for its members and guests. The program will feature two family historians presenting an interactive program entitled “Family the Most Heavily Used Genealogy Site on the Internet.” The public is invited to this special opportunity for on site research.
The presenters, Elder and Sister Madeo, will discuss and demonstrate the Family Search genealogical resources available through the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS).  From Salt Lake City, the Madeos are living temporarily in Tabor City, N. C. and working with individuals and groups in the area on family histories. Including other resources, such as Wiki, the Catalog, and other databases, they will provide an overview designed to enable participants to pursue searches of their own.
For the interactive part of the program, members are encouraged to bring the name, birth date, marriage information, and date of death of an ancestor.  During the session, participants will have a chance to search for further information online. Some laptops will be available, but members and guests are encouraged to bring their own laptops.
The Sunday meeting is slated for 3:00 p.m. in the meeting room of the new Marion Fire Station on Senator Gasque Road, across from Richardson Funeral Home.  Directions:  From Hwy 76 in Marion, turn onto Palmetto Pointe Road at the stoplight across from Dollar General.  Turn right onto Senator Gasque Road.  The fire station is located on the right.  There is parking around the building, including the back where the meeting room entrance is located.  For further information, see the map and directions on the Chapter web site at
