The Dillon County 4-H Intermediate Squad is the SCDNR State Champion skeet team in the club division. Walker Brumble, Dillon County 4-H club member, is the SCDNR Sr. Club Division State champion in Skeet and Trap. All were awarded these titles at the SCDNR State Skeet and Trap tournaments held at the Palmetto Shooting Complex in Edgefield, SC the weekend of February 11th and 12th.
Walker Brumble was the High Over All (HOA) shooter in both Skeet and Trap in the Sr. Club Division. Walker broke 93 out of 100 targets in skeet and 92 out of 100 targets in Trap. Walker shot in a squad with Myers Hamer and Cole Anders.

That squad placed 2nd in both the skeet and trap events. Both events were won by Mid Carolina. In trap, Brumble broke 92, Hamer broke 74 and Anders broke 61 for a total score of 227. They were 7 birds behind Mid Carolina whose total score was 234. In Skeet, Brumble broke 93 targets, Hamer broke 85 and Anders broke 82 for a total score of 260. Again, Mid Carolina won by a slim margin of just 4 birds with a score of 264. The Dillon County 4-H Intermediate Squad is the State Skeet Champion in their division as they won first place with a score of 247. The squad consisted of team members Davis Lockamy who broke 87 out of 100 clays, Justin Herring who broke 82 out of 100, and Zack Arrington who shot 78 out of 100. They beat a Mid Carolina team who had a total score of 240.
Also competing in the skeet event was a team from Dillon Christian School. They missed being the State Jr. School Division Champions by one bird to the team from Newberry. The squad’s three team members were Samuel Coleman who broke 88 of 100 targets, Daniel Camp who shot 82 out of 100, and Hamilton Hodges who scored on 70 out of 100 targets.  Their final score was 240 and put them in 2nd Place behind Newberry who scored 241.
In addition to trophies and awards, several scholarships were awarded to high school senior shooters. Cole Anders of Dillon County 4-H was awarded a $500 scholarship at the trap event.
A total of $7000 in scholarships were awarded.
