The Dillon Varsity Boys basketball team defeated Marion, 55-44, last week.
Prior to the start of the game, #2 Keenan Norman sank two free throws to get Dillon off to the lead. Dillon got a ball out of bounds and scored two.
Marion got the ball, and #4 shoots unsuccessfully. #43 for Dillon, Ja’Quan Knowlin, shoots a free throw. Knowlin gets his own rebound and was fouled. Dillon moves ahead 6-0. Dillon’s #10, Javier Brookins, scored adding two points.
#1 for Marion drives the ball and takes a shot, but misses. Dillon adds two more bringing the score to Dillon-10, Marion-0, with 6:08 left in the first period.
#1 for Dillon, Aaron McCollum, drives the ball and shoots. Marion gets back the ball and sinks one for two points, getting their first points of the game. The score was Dillon-10, Marion-2.
#4 for Marion shoots, but fails. #15 for Dillon, Zareon Hayes, passed the ball for an assist as Dillon scores again.
#42 RaKeem McClam for Dillon shoots. Marion gets the ball back. #1 for Marion shoots, but the shot is blocked by McClam.
There is more back and forth action between the teams then #5 for Marion sinks one for three points, bringing the score to Dillon-14, Marion-9.
#41 for Dillon, Darius Boatwright shoots, but the ball rims out. #10 for Marion takes two shots -one beneath the basket and a long one.
After the first period, Dillon led Marion, 18-9.
At the beginning of the second period, Hayes drives and shoots. Boatwright grabbed the rebound. #21 for Marion shoots beneath the basket.
Hayes gets his hands on the ball again and drives and shoots.
#5 for Marion drives the ball. Dillon gets the ball and Knowlin shoots.
#5 for Marion drives and shoots and is fouled. The referees confer and rule no basket. #5 shoots free throws.
#1 for Marion shoots. Dillon’s McCollum gets the ball and shoots a long one. #4 for Marion shoots beneath the basket.
#41 for Dillon, Boatwright, lays one in for two. Dillon’s lead increases to 26-10.
#3 for Marion drives and shoots. #3 for Dillon, Corrian Wright, shoots. #4 for Marion shoots. #1 for Dillon, McCollum, has a shot blocked.
#10 for Marion shoots a free throw. #15 for Dillon, Hayes, shoots a free throw. At the half, Dillon led Marion, 30-19.
In the third period, Dillon added nine more points while Marion added 11. In the fourth period, Dillon put 16 more points on the board to Marion’s 14 bringing the final score to 55-44.
Jaquan Knowlin led the scoring for Dillon with 13 points followed by Aaron McCollum with nine points. Keenan Norman had six points, Jalian Williams had six points, and Khary White had six points. Also scoring points were Corrian Wright with four, ShaMar McCollum with four, Darius Boatwright with two, Javier Brookins with two and RaKeem Fletcher with two.
