Vehicle Break-Ins Occur In Latta Area

Several car break-ins occurred in the Latta area last night, and the Latta Police Department is reminding the public to lock their car doors.
The vehicles were rummaged through. The break-ins occurred on December 27-28 in the following locations, according to the Latta Police Department:
—West Main Street, Latta—Among the items taken from these locations included a wrapped bottle of Bath and Body Works lotion;  a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses; $25 cash, a .40 cal stainless steel Taurus Millennium pistol, and a black carry bag with files.
—Pine Street, Latta—Vehicles rummaged, but nothing missing.
—Elm Street, Latta—Vehicle rummaged, but nothing missing.
—Maple Street, Latta—Vehicles rummaged, but nothing missing.
—Sunset Drive, Latta—A 550 box of .22 calibre ammunition was taken.
—Bethea Street, Latta—Vehicle rummaged, but nothing missing.
—East Leitner Street, Latta—A wallet was missing with personal information, a bank card, and approximately $400 cash.
Anyone with any information about these vehicle break-ins is asked to call the Latta Police Department at 843-752-4718.
Vehicle break-ins also occurred in Latta in the area that falls under the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office’s  jurisdiction.
According to Captain Cliff Arnette, “On Monday, December 28, 2015 the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office responded to a number of vehicle break-ins on Sunset Drive in Latta, at one of the incidents the homeowner heard his dogs barking and walked outside and noticed that the interior light was on in his vehicle and observed someone in the vehicle and yelled out to the person and that person shot at the victim.” Arnette said that if anyone has any information concerning the vehicle break-ins to please call the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office at 843-774-1432.
The public is urged to lock their car doors and remove items of value from their vehicles. Also, report any suspicious activity.
