Annual Family Reunion of the Descendants Of Isham And Mary Watson Held

The Annual Family Reunion of the Descendants of Isham and Mary Watson was called to order by President John Yancey McGill on Sunday, June 28, 2015 at Antioch Church, Sellers, SC.
Music was provided by Laurel Ammons Hayes on the keyboard before and during the meeting.
The invocation was given by Senator Thomas McElveen. Family members then joined in singing “Faith of Our Fathers”.
Minutes of the 2014 meeting were printed in the newsletter and approved as distributed.
The Treasurer’s report was given by Burke Watson, Treasurer.
At this time, an offering  was collected by Hunter Watson and Ted McGill. In addition, a generous donation was received in memory of Turner and Frances Watson made by Francie Watson Biggs and Hoyt, Sam, & Preston Watson. Barbara Cobb made a generous donation in memory of Norris Page.
Memorial Roll Call by Ginny McGill Kirk and Leslie McGill McKenzie remembered Eleanor Watson Hamburger, Samuel Turner Watson, Thomas and Audrey Hunter and Laura Ann Henry followed by the Hymn, “Blest be the Tie that Binds”.
Special Recognitions were presented by President Yancey McGill:
-Youngest Child Present: Carter Virginia, 9 weeks old, son of Wil and Leslie McGill McKenzie (WILLIAM-Willie-Pauline-Frank-Ted McGill),
– Newlyweds: Carl Francis and Caroline Worley Sloan (WILLIAM-Furman-Eleanor),
– Person traveled the longest distance: John Watson, Miami (WILLIAM-Furman-Maxie),
-Oldest present: Helen McGill Adams, 92, (WILLIAM-Willie-Pauline),
-Newsletter editor Michelle Hazel Strickland ((WILLIAM-Furman-Eleanor),
-Brigadier General J. Emory Mace (JANE.) former commandant of The Citadel and
-Nancy Mace (JANE), first female graduate of the Citadel Corps of Cadets,
-Past Association presidents who were present today were Buddy George, Tim Ammons, John Watson, Alice Sloan, Don Hamburger, Ted McGill, Maxcy Watson, Vharles Long, Tate McMillan, David Hamburger and Mike Watson.
President McGill announced the appointment of the following committees: Furman and Linnie Bond Watson Scholarship, Historical Marker Committee, Memorial Committee, Nominating Committee, Building and grounds Committee, Webmaster, Newsletter Editor, Family Historian, Capital Campaign Committee and Music Committee. Family members were encouraged to sign up to serve on a committee.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned with the singing of “God Be With You “til We Meet Again” followed by the benediction and grace by Cousin Tim Ammons.
