Lady Eagles Outhit Lady Warriors for 16-4 Region Win

The Lady Eagles of Pee Dee Academy traveled to Dillon on Tuesday and came away with a 16-4 region win over the Lady Warriors of Dillon Christian School.

The Warriors put the Eagles three up and out in the top of the first inning and went ahead 1-0 with Ansley Hamer moving Sara Bass on the bases with a sacrifice bunt. Bass scored on a pitch that got away from the catcher. The Warriors held this lead through the second inning.

The Eagles went up 3-1 in the top of the third inning off of two Warrior errors and base hits from Haley Scott and Kathrine White. The Warriors evened the score at 3-3 in the bottom of the inning with Samantha Carpenter driving in Madison King on a base hit and Sara Bass adding good base running to get home.

The top of the fourth put the Eagles out front for good as they picked up nine runs from three singles, two doubles, and four Warrior errors going up 12-3 and holding this lead through the sixth inning. The Eagles added three runs in the top of the seventh inning from two base hits, a triple, and two Warrior errors. The Warriors’ seventh inning rally was short producing a single run to end the contest 16-4.

On the mound for the Warriors, Jamie Carpenter allowed 13 hits with 16 runs scored with no strikeouts and no walked batters for the loss.

On the mound for the Eagles, Haley Scott posted six strikeouts with three walked batters and allowed one hit with three runs scored in three innings for the win. In relief, Rylee White posted four strikeouts with two walked batters and allowed one hit and no runs in three innings. Closing for the Eagles, Page Estridge added a strikeout with one walked batter and allowed one hit with one run scored in one inning.

At bat for the Warriors, Samantha Carpenter was 2-for-3 with a walk, two stolen bases, and one RBI; Sara Bass was 1-for-1, also getting to base on three walks with two stolen bases and two runs scored; Ansley Hamer moved the base runner on a sacrifice bunt; and Madison King, Erin Hamer, Hannah Walters, Madison Moody, and Jamie Carpenter each made it to base on walks. Warrior players that stood out in the game were Jamie Carpenter, Sara Bass, and Samantha Carpenter.

At bat for the Eagles, Haley Scott was 2-for-3 with a double; Kayley Caulder was 2-for-3; Kathrine White was 2-for-5 with a double and five RBI, adding a base on an error; Holden Gasque was 1-for-2 with a stolen base; Rylee White was 1-for-3 with a stolen base and one RBI; Lexi Drose was 1-for-4 with a triple and one RBI, adding two bases on errors; Lilly Caulder was 1-for-5 with one RBI and a base on an error; Meg Martin was 1-for-5, adding a base on an error; April Lewis got to base on an error, adding a stolen base; and Lindsay Martin got one RBI on an error. Eagle Coach Bill Rogers and his staff always display good sportsmanship and coach a good game and are a pleasure to play against.

The Warriors observed senior day by recognizing seniors Emilie Martin, Ansley Hamer, Madison King, and Jamie Carpenter.

The Warriors were scheduled to host Marlboro Academy on Wednesday and will travel to Lake View this Friday for the final game of the season. The Wild Gators will be observing cancer awareness and invite all to attend and support the game and the cause.
