Yellow Jessamine Garden Club Meets

The Yellow Jessamine Garden Club met Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at the home of Juster Carter. Juster’s husband, Ronnie Carter prepared a wonderful meal for the members. It was enjoyed by everyone.

Cathy McDaniel, President, called the meeting to order, and then had prayer. Cathy welcomed everyone. There were 13 members present. Cathy introduced two new members, Janet Keaton and Judy Wyman.
Cathy introduced the guest speaker, Jon Bozard. Jon is past president of The Dillon Garden Club, former president of The Dillon Council of Garden Clubs, and a Master Gardener. Jon’s program was on, “Decorating Flower Pots”. Jon brought several flower pots, and told how to clean and paint them. She gave tips on how to decorate them using various items and techniques. Jon also showed how to invert flower pots and place a tray on top to use as bird baths. Smaller pots can be used several different ways as candle holders. Spring is not far off, and these are some projects that we can work on. She was presented a gift and card for attending.
Mary Ricks called the roll in absence of Secretary Mildred Mishue. Members answered to their favorite house plant. Mary then read the minutes from last meeting.
Helen Prevatte gave the Treasurer’s Report. Each committee gave their report. LaRue Bracey reported that she and some other ladies worked at the Mini Park on #9 on afternoon.
The nominating committee presented the new officers for the next two years. Mildred Mishue will be the new president. They were voted on and will be installed in April.
The Club is working on a 75 year celebration in May of this year. Nine members are planning on going to the Coastal District Meeting, March 10, at North Myrtle Beach.

The next meeting will be, Tuesday, March 3rd, at LaRue Bracey’s house.
