Lady Warriors Fall in Varsity Action

Dillon Christian School’s Lady Warriors took losses last week from Emmanuel Christian and Marlboro Academy in girls varsity basketball action.

On Thursday, the Warriors traveled Hartsville to face Emmanuel Baptist for a 38-20 loss. The Crusaders took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter and were up 16-4 at the half. The Warriors rallied in the third to outscore the Crusaders 12-8 to trail 24-16, but Emmanuel went 14-4 in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

The Crusaders were led by Emily Beisecker with a game-high 18 points. Helms added 11; Howell, 5; Raines, 2; and Morrell, 2.

The Lady Warriors were led by Jamie Carpenter with 11 points. Sara Bass, Emilie Martin, Audrey Polverari, and Sam Carpenter each added two points, and Lizzie Outlar and Hansen each added one point.

On Friday night, the Warriors traveled to Bennettsville to face Marlboro Academy and fell 53-11 to the Dragons.

Marlboro took a 17-3 lead in the first quarter and went 12- 5 in the second for a 29-8 lead at the half. The Dragons shut out the Warriors 8-0 in the third, and held Dillon Christian to just three points in the fourth to seal the win.

Katherine Holmes scored a game-high 22 points and Destiny Day added 11 to lead Marlboro Academy. Smith added five, and Stanton, Ridge, and Covington each earned four points. Burchfield added two points, and Odom contributed one in the win.

For the Warriors, Jamie Carpenter scored nine points and Sam Carpenter added two.

Emmanuel Baptist improved to 4-4 and Marlboro Academy improved to 7-4 and 1-2 in SCISA Region 3-A while the Warriors slipped to 0-3 in the Region.

Dillon Christian will host Pee Dee Academy tonight and will travel to face Christian Academy on Friday. Next week, the Warriors will be away at Florence Christian and at King’s Academy on Friday, January 30.
