Theatre Awarded Grant

The Dillon County Theatre has been awarded a $1,899, grant by the South Carolina Arts Commission for the 2014-15 fiscal year.  The award is operating support of small organizations.
“The South Carolina Arts Commission grant will enable the Dillon County Theatre to achieve our mission of providing quality programs for the citizens of Dillon County and the surrounding area,” said Frances Tyler, President of the Dillon County Theatre Board.
The S.C. Arts Commission grant must be matched by local dollars.
“The Dillon County Theatre is thankful for the support from the County, City of Dillon, local businesses and patrons all who help to keep our facility operating. Furthermore, this money goes directly back into our local and state economy, and supports the development of our community,” said Tyler.
The South Carolina Arts Commission is the state agency charged with creating a thriving arts environment that benefits all South Carolinians, regardless of their location or circumstances.
Created by the South Carolina General Assembly in 1967, the Arts commission works to increase public participation in the arts by providing services.
Grants and leadership initiatives in three areas: arts education community arts development and artist development. Headquartered in Columbia, S.C., the Arts commission is funded by the State of South Carolina, by the federal government through the National endowment for the Arts and other sources.
