Dillon Still Leads Class 2A Polls

The Dillon Wildcats continued to dominate the statewide high school football media polls this week as they prepare to open conference play in Class 2a, Region 8.

Timberland was ranked second, followed by Loris, Woodruff, Fairfield Central, and Chesnee. Strom Thurmond and Newberry were tied for seventh place, with Keenan and Powdersville rounding out the top 10. Loris is the only other Region 8 team in the Class 2A top ten rankings, though Marion received votes in the poll.

In Class A, Christ Church continued to dominate the list, followed by Allendale-Fairfax, Bamberg-Ehrhardt, Hemingway, and Estill in the top five. No Region 8 teams cracked the list but Lake View received votes in the polls.

In Class 3A, Myrtle Beach topped the list, followed by Hartsville, Wren, Daniel, and A.C. Flora, and in Class 4A, York and Dorman were the top two teams.

This Friday the Lake View Wild Gators will be at Green Sea-Floyds at 7:30 p.m. as they open region play. The Gators are 3-2 on the season while Green Sea is 0-5 in non-conference action.

The Latta Vikings will also open conference play in Region 8A as they prepare to host Hemingway at 7:30 p.m. The Vikings earned their first win of the season last week as they defeated Class A’s East Clarendon 34-29.

Hemingway is 5-0 so far this season, earning wins over Class 2A’s Kingstree, Andrews, and Johnsonville, along with non-conference wins over Class A’s C.E. Murray, and Hannah-Pamplico.

In SCISA action, the Dillon Christian School Warriors, 4-1, will host the Pee Dee Academy Golden Eagles, who are 1-4 on the season. Pee Dee earned their first win last Friday, defeating The King’s Academy 42-13. Game time this Friday is set for 7:30 p.m.
