Dillon County Station Nine (Oak Grove) has a new tanker. Tanker 942 went into service on September 8th.
Chief Larry Cox and Assistant Chief Terry Weichel picked up the truck in Texarkana, Arkansas. During the long, 17-hour trip back to Oak Grove with the truck, they found the truck to be in good shape.
They started working on the truck on August 11th with the help of Randy Cook, Terry Weichel, Chip Rogers, Nick Rogers, Bill Brandt, Larry Lane Jr., Tony Jackson, and with the donated items they received from Tommy Spivey, the truck is now ready to serve the citizens.
The truck is a 2007 International with a 2000 gallon tank and a 350 gpm pump. It also has a swivel, a dump valve installed in the rear that allows a 90-second dump time for the 2000 gallons to empy.
Chief Cox has talked with Latta Fire Chief Josh Holt, and the plan is for these two departments to continue working together and further reduce the ISO rating in their respective areas.
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all who helped in getting this truck into service, and a special thank you to Dillon County Councilman Buzzy Finklea for his support,” said Cox.
