Latta Vikings Fall to Mullins in Opener

The Latta Vikings opened the season with a 48-36 loss from the Mullins Auctioneers at home in Latta on Friday night in Week 1 varsity football action.

The Vikings lead 28-24 in the first half but the Auctioneers held on for the win.

Latta’s Davonta Porter scored on a touchdown pass from Kel Williamson, and Tyquan Porter scored on an interception. Kendall Multrie and Tyreik McAllister also each scored touchdowns for the Vikings, and Trey Paige scored and also sacked Mullins quarterback Riyan Gore.

Mullins improved to 1-1 while the Vikings opened the regular season with an 0-1 record. The Auctioneers have eight wins over Latta in nine meetings, with Latta’s only win coming in 1984.

The Vikings will be on the road in Dillon this Friday night at 7:30 p.m. to take on the Wildcats. Dillon is 2-0 so far this season and earned a 49-14 win over Lake View on Friday.
