The opening ceremonies for the Dixie Softball (10 and under) Angels and Darlings (8 and under) State Championship tournaments were held tonight, Saturday, July 5th at the City of Dillon Wellness Center.
The teams heard from Dillon Mayor Pro-Tem Douglas Jackson; State Director Phil Parnell; Darryl Miller; and Shirl Carter, coach of the Dillon Wildcats Softball 2A State Championship Team. Teams were introduced. John Tudor, master magician, entertained those in attendance. Prizes were also given, and a meal was enjoyed. It was a great kick-off for what should be an exciting tournament.
Play begins Sunday, July 6th at 1 p.m. and will continue through Wednesday, July 9th. The winners will advance to the Dixie Softball World Series to be held in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi.
