LVHS Wild Gators Band Marches In Theme Park Parade

The Lake View High School Wild Gators Marching Band performed in a parade at Universal Studios in Florida on Friday, March 21.
The band received a letter from Universal Studios in February congratulating them on being selected to march in the prestigious parade.  Hundreds of spectators lined up along the parade route to see and hear the band’s performance.
The band, comprised of 36 students, marched a parade route through Universal Studios theme park.
The Wild Gators Marching Band departed from Lake View High School at 2:00 am on Thursday, March 20, 2014 for Florida.
They ate breakfast at McDonald’s in Jacksonville before traveling to Universal Studios theme park.  The annual Mardi Gras Festival was under way at the theme park, featuring a grand Mardi Gras parade on select nights.
The band also enjoyed an all-you-can-eat pizza dinner on Thursday, March 20 at Fun Spot Action Park, where the students enjoyed more roller coasters and go-carts.
On Friday, the Wild Gators Marching Band traveled to the back lot area of Universal Studios theme park where parade floats and Universal Studios characters were preparing for the parade.  Wearing newly purchased uniforms, the band stepped off onto the parade route at 10:00 a.m., performing “The Lion Sleeps Tonight.”
A plaque was awarded to the band for their outstanding performance and is on display in the Lake View High School band room.
The group was able to enjoy the theme parks after the parade performance.  The band enjoyed Islands of Adventure theme park on Saturday and traveled back to Lake View overnight.
The students, parents, and director of the Lake View High School band would like to thank everyone for their support and donations that made this momentous trip possible.
It is because of the generous support of our great community that the Lake View High School Band is making great strides toward excellence.
