Lady Wildcats Retain Top Spot in State Softball Polls

Dillon’s Lady Wildcats held on to the top spot in Class 2A in the most recent South Carolina Softball Coaches polls.

Dillon’s Lady Wildcats, currently undefeated at 5-0 in Region 8-2A, held on to the top spot, with Andrew Jackson in second and Crescent in third. Waccamaw was ranked fourth in the state, and the Wildcats held off a late rally from the Warriors for a 3-2 win on Tuesday night.

Landrum, Buford, and Chesterfield were next on the list, with Pelion and Pendleton tied for eighth and Indian Land ranked tenth.

In Class A, Lake View’s Lady Wild Gators and Latta’s Lady Vikings were ranked sixth and seventh. Lake View earned a 4-3 win over Latta on Tuesday.

East Clarendon remained at the top of the list, followed by Dixie, Johnsonville, Lewisville, and St. Joseph’s in the top five. Both Latta and Lake View have taken losses from Johnsonville so far this season.

McBee, Fox Creek, and Lamar filled out the rest of the top 10.

In Class 3A, Hartsville, Seneca, Union County, Blue Ridge, and Palmetto filled out the top five, and in Class 4A, Summerville, Mauldin, Byrnes, Dutch Fork, and Northwestern were ranked as the top five in the state.
