Latta Vikings Shut Out Lake View’s Wild Gators 6-0

The Latta Vikings shut out the Lake View Wild Gators 6-0 in Lake View on Tuesday night in varsity softball action.

Latta took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning and added three more in the third for the win.

Travis Power got the win on the mound for Latta, pitching the complete game for three hits, two walks, and eight outs.

Weston Rogers took the loss for the Wild Gators, pitching three innings for seven hits, five earned runs, one walk, and five outs. Josh Price also pitched four innings for the Wild Gators, striking out three.

At bat for the Vikings, Jackson Williams went 2-for-4 with a RBI and two runs scored; Donell Stanley went 1-for-2 with two RBI; and John Kever Lover went 1-for-4 with two RBI. Josh Bowen also had a hit in the win. The Vikings had nine hits in the win.

Lake View was led by Brent Herlong and Roger Scott, who each went 1-for-3. The Gators had three hits in the effort.

Latta improved to 6-2 overall and 4-1 in Region 8-A, while Lake View slipped to 6-2 overall and 1-2 in the region.

Lake View is scheduled to travel to Hannah-Pamplico on Friday at 5:30 p.m. and will be at Marion on Wednesday, April 9.

Latta will host Creek Bridge tonight for a double header beginning at 5:30 p.m. and will host Johnsonville at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 8. Make plans to attend to support our local team!
