Lady Gators Earn 4-3 Win Over Latta

Lake View’s Lady Wild Gators and Latta’s Lady Vikings clashed on Tuesday night with the Gators earning a 4-3 win in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Lake View’s Morgan Herlong earned the win on the mound, pitching a complete game for eight hits, three runs, three earned runs, three hit by pitch, and four outs.

Latta’s Anna Rogers pitched the complete game for the loss, striking out 14 while allowing 10 hits, four runs, and four earned runs.

At bat for Lake View, Ally Spivey went 2-for-3 with a home run and one RBI to help lead the Lady Gators. Marissa Tyndall went 2-for-4, including the game winning single in the seven inning, and picked up two RBI; Madison Matthews went 2-for-3 with one RBI; and Kayce Wong went 2-for-3 to help Lake View in the win.

At bat for Latta, Macy Hyatt hit a home run for two RBI, going 1-for-1 and reaching base after being hit by pitch three times. Camryn Sawyer went 2-for-4 with one run scored, and Mikenzi Caniglia went 1-for-3 with one run scored.

Lake View improved to 8-3 overall and 2-1 in Region 8A, while Latta slipped to 5-3 overall with a a 3-2 record in the region.

Latta was scheduled to travel to Marion for a double header on Wednesday and will be back at home tonight to host Aynor at 6:30 p.m. Then on Monday, the Vikings will host Carvers Bay at 6:00 p.m.

Lake View will be away at Hannah-Pamplico on Friday and will be at Dillon on Monday, April 7, for a double header against the Lady Wildcats beginning at 5:00 p.m.
