GIRLS
Dillon’s girls earned a 78-22 win over Lake Marion to advance to the second round of Class AA playoffs on Saturday night. The Lady Wildcats will host Lake City at 7:00 p.m. Lake City finished second in Region 7-A and earned a 60-43 win over Marion in the first round. Kingstree and Mullins also advanced through the first round and the Lady Auctioneers will be at Kingstree on Saturday.
The Latta ladies earned a 64-26 win over East Clarendon in the first round to advance in the Class A playoffs. The Lady Vikings will host Denmark-Olar on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. Denmark-Olar finished second in Region 5-A and defeated St. John’s 54-48 in the first round.
Lake View’s Lady Wild Gators fell 62-31 to Timmonsville in the first round of the Class A playoffs. Timmonsville finished first in Region 7-A and will advance to host Cross, who defeated Allendale-Fairfax 51-19 in the first round.
BOYS
The Dillon boys fell 68-66 to Lake City in the first round of the Class AA boys basketball playoffs. The Wildcats trailed heading into the final quarter, and despite outscoring Lake City 23-17 in the fourth, Dillon couldn’t quite close the gap, missing three chance to tie before time expired. Lake City, Region 7’s second place finisher, will face Region 8 champ Mullins on Saturday night. Mullins defeated Timberland 71-62 on Thursday.
In Class A, the Latta Vikings fell 84-80 to C.E. Murray as Oceanez Fluitt earned a career-high 42 points for the War Eagles. C.E. Murray finished third in Region 7-A and will travel to face Whale Branch. Whale Branch finished first in Region 5-A and defeated Military Magnet 64-37.
