After picking up a win over Waccamaw in their first meeting on February 1, the Dillon Wildcats fell to the Warriors on Monday to force a tiebreaker on Tuesday, where Dillon earned a 74-60 win to claim third place in Region 8-2A.
The Wildcats traveled to Waccamaw on Monday and fell 69-59 to the Warriors.
Waccamaw was led by Rob Ferraro with 20 points and Adonis Williams with 19.
Jalik Bethea led the Wildcats with 12 points in the effort and Gabe Salmon, Jr., added 11. Eri’Reon Hayes and Julius Saunders both scored eight, and Joe Manning added seven, and Tyreik McAllister earned six, with Lawrence Crouch adding four and JaQuan Knowlin scoring three.
Waccamaw’s win forced a tiebreaker on Tuesday night to determine the third and fourth place spots in Region 8-2A. The game was held at Aynor, and the Wildcats earned a 74-60 win to claim the third place spot.
Jalik Bethea again led the Wildcats with 30 points in the win, and Gerome McLeod added 16. Eri’Reon Hayes earned eight points; JaQuan Knowlin scored seven; Tyreik McAllister added six; Lawrence Crouch earned five; and Gabe Salmon, Jr., added two.
The Wildcats improved to 17-7 overall and 6-5 in Region 8-2A. Dillon will travel to Lake City for the first round of Class AA lower state playoffs tonight at 7:00 p.m. Lake City was 17-6 overall this season and 7-3 in Region 7-2A.
Region 8-2A champ Mullins will host Timberland and second place Marion will host Lee Central tonight, while Waccamaw will face Region 7-2A champ Lake Marion.
