Lady Wildcats Down Lions, Improve to 22-0

Dillon’s Lady Wildcats traveled to Loris on Monday night and picked up an 86-29 win over the Lady Lions to improve to 22-0 overall and put them one win away from their first perfect season.

The Wildcats took a 23-6 lead in the first quarter and outscored the Lions the rest of the way, going 30-11 in the second quarter and 33-12 in the second half.

Khamele Manning led the Lady Wildcats with a game-high 22 points which included five three-pointers. Tyshanna Lester added 20 points in the win and Brianna Lee earned 13. Yolanda Campbell scored eight, Kendra McLeod earned six, and Tejah Breeden and Shar’asia Samuel each added five points for the Wildcats. Nakedra Page scored four, Da’Kerhia Samuel earned two, and Cali McRae contributed one point in the win.

Ryneshia Bellamy and Jasmine Gore each earned seven points to lead Loris. Tonecia Griffin and Nasrah Gill each earned five and Demisha Phillips added four with Jasmine Farris scoring one point in the effort.

Dillon improved to 22-0 with the win and 9-0 in Region 8-2A. The Lady Wildcats have already clinched the region title and will have home court advantage as playoffs begin next Tuesday, February 18.

The Wildcats are also one win away from their first ever perfect season. Dillon was set to travel to Waccamaw on Monday for a makeup game against the Warriors to close out the regular season. Class 2A girls playoffs will begin this Thursday at 7:00 p.m.

BOYS

The Wildcats picked up an 81-50 win over Loris on Monday night in varsity boys action. Dillon improved to 16-6 overall and 5-4 in Region 8-2A.

Elsewhere Monday, Mullins defeated Aynor 70-57 to improve to 8-1 in the region, while Marion defeated Waccamaw 61-55 to give the Auctioneers a 6-2 record and the Warriors a 4-5 in the region.

Dillon was scheduled to travel to Waccamaw on Wednesday to face the Warriors, weather permitting. A win would give the Wildcats the third place slot in the region, while a loss would tie the two teams at 5-5. The third place finisher will face Region 7’s second place team, Lake City, while the fourth place team will face Region 7 champ Lake Marion in the first round of playoffs on Thursday, February 20.
