The Latta Vikings fell 66-44 to the Marion Swamp Foxes on Thursday, December 18, in boys varsity basketball action.
Marion took a 21-15 lead in the first quarter and outpaced Latta 16-8 in the second to lead 37-23. The Swamp Foxes outscored Latta 14-7 and 15-14 in the second half for the win.
John Tyler scored a game-high 19 points to lead Marion in the win, and Dahndry Foxworth added 16 points with 12 rebounds. Terry Wiggins scored 10; Kevin Grant, 6; Clinton Reaves, 5; Reggie Barnes, 4; Stephon Godfrey, 2; DeShaun Avant, 2; Jordon Bell, 1; and DeAndre Peterson, 1.
Latta was led by Kartilus McFadden and Viez Mungro, with each scoring eight points. Tyrell Sabb added seven, Quane Williams scored six, and Jordan Sims added five, with Jordan Smith earning three and Chakeem Blake adding one. Eric Brice, C.J. Mace, and R.J. McClam each contributed two points in the effort.
Marion improved to 3-4 while the Vikings slipped to 1-3. Latta will be off for the holidays but will return to action on Tuesday, January 7, when they are scheduled to host Dillon at 6:00 p.m.
