Vikings Fall 79-75 to Mullins

The Latta Vikings fell 79-75 to Mullins on Tuesday, December 17, in boys varsity basketball action.

Mullins took a 17-15 lead in the first quarter but Latta outpaced the Auctioneers 15-14 in the second to trail by one point at 31-30 at the half. The Vikings rallied for the lead in the third, outscoring Mullins 28-19, but with less than a minute on the clock, the score was tied at 73-73. Jalek Felton broke the tie with two free throws, and the Auctioneers poured on the pressure to take the win, outscoring Latta 29-17 in the final quarter.

Felton scored a game-high 29 points and Alex Brown added 26 to lead the Auctioneers. Felton also grabbed eight rebounds for Mullins. Paul Stackhouse added 12 points; Kyrei Platt, 4; Malik McGill, 3; and Nick Potter, 2.

R.J. McClam led Latta with a team-high 20 points and Rajit McFadden added 19 in the effort. Tyrell Sabb scored 13 and Sims earned 12 with Williams adding four.

The Vikings are 1-2 so far in the regular season while Mullins improved to 4-1.

Latta was scheduled to host Marion on Thursday in their last regular season game before the winter break. The Vikings will return to action on Tuesday, January 7, when they are set to host Dillon at 6:00 p.m.
