Lady Gators Pick Up Wins Over Loris, Aynor

Lake View’s Lady Wild Gators picked up wins over Loris and Aynor in girls varsity basketball action last week.

On Monday, December 16, the Lady Gators hosted Loris for a 54-32 win over the Lady Lions.

Lake View took a 16-8 lead in the first quarter and outpaced Loris 12-8, 14-6, and 12-10 in the remaining quarters to seal the win.

Olivia McDaniel led Lake View with a game-high 26 points, including two three-pointers and six doubles. McDaniel also hit eight of 13 free throw attempts and grabbed nine rebounds with one steal and one block.

Jasmine Ford added 18 points in the win with nine two-pointers and two steals, an assist, and a rebound. Kayla Page hit three two-pointers for a total of six, and grabbed five rebounds with one steal; Tranya Ford sank a double and grabbed two rebounds with two steals and an assist; Diayah Williams picked up a team-high 11 rebounds and added a free throw with three steals and one assist; Taylor Bethea hit a free throw and grabbed three rebounds; Zaria Washington grabbed two rebounds; Pamela Butler made one assist; and Desiree Strickland picked up an offensive rebound.

On Tuesday, the Lady Gators traveled to Aynor and earned a 62-29 win over the Blue Jackets.

Lake View took a 22-7 lead and outpaced Aynor in every quarter – 8-3, 16-12, and 16-7 – for the win.

McDaniel led the Gators with a game-high 31 points, including 11 doubles, a triple, and six of seven free throw attempts. Jasmine Ford added 18 points with nine two-pointers, and Tranya Ford added 13, including five doubles and a three-pointer.

Aynor was led by Aleix Rogers and Kayla Gerald with eight points each. Deas added seven, and C. Nash, Annie Kroger, and Mariah each added two.

The Lady Gators improved to 5-2 overall as they headed into winter break. Lake View will return to action against East Clarendon on Tuesday, January 7.
