Dillon’s Lady Wildcats Remain Undefeated, Rise in State Polls

Dillon’s Lady Wildcats remained undefeated with a 63-42 win over the Marlboro County Bulldogs on Tuesday night in girls varsity basketball action.

Dillon took a 12-6 lead in the first quarter, but Marlboro outscored the Wildcats 13-10 in the second to trail 22-29 at the half. Dillon held the lead by outpacing the Bulldogs 18-16, and the Wildcats sealed the win by outscoring Marlboro 23-7 in the fourth.

Tyshanna Lester led the Wildcats with a game-high 21 points and made four steals, and Khamele Manning added 16 points for Dillon. Da’Kerhia Samuel scored 10 and grabbed 14 rebounds in the win while Yolanda Campbell scored six with 11 rebounds, and Brianna Lee scored five with nine rebounds and four steals.

Marlboro County was led by Raquelle Shaw with a team-high 14 points and Shakeria Bridges with eight. Tonionna Jacobs added six points, and Shaquanza Williams scored five.

Dillon improved to 4-0 overall while Marlboro County is now 4-2.

Dillon was ranked fourth in the most recent poll of the South Carolina Basketball Coaches Association. Fairfield Central, Bishop England, and Mullins took the top three spots with Andrew Jackson in fifth. Keenan, Kingstree, Columbia, Abbeville, and Ninety Six rounded out the top 10.

The Lady Wildcats were scheduled to face Purnell Swett on Wednesday night in the first round of the Robeson County Shootout.

BOYS

In boys varsity basketball, the Dillon Wildcats fell 76-56 to the Marlboro County Bulldogs. Dillon is now 3-1 overall while Marlboro improved to 2-4.
