Wild Gators Fall to Lions, Wildcats

Lake View’s Wild Gators fell 53-36 to Loris on Wednesday, December 11, in boys varsity basketball action.

Loris took a 13-4 lead in the first quarter and outscored the Gators 20-6 in the second to lead 33-10 at the half. The Gators held the Lions to 10-9 in the third, and outscored them 17-10 in the fourth, but couldn’t close the gap.

Crishon Jordan, Chavis Nichols, and Reco Brown each scored nine points to lead Lake View. Jordan hit three two-pointers and went 3-for-4 on free throw attempts, while Brown and Nichols each sank four two-point shots with one free throw each. Jordan also grabbed five rebounds, while Brown picked up four with two blocks and a steal, and Nichols picked up four with a block, a steal, and an assist.

Thomas Butler earned four points for the Gators, sinking a three-pointer and a free throw, with one rebound and a steal. E. Williams sank a two-point shot with one rebound and two assists; Duane Nichols went 2-for-2 on free throws and grabbed two rebounds with an assist; and Xavier Johnson sank a free throw with four rebounds and one steal.

Anthony Bines caught one rebound and made a steal; Jeremy Moody and Dwight Lassiter each picked up a defensive rebound; and Jeremiah Cribb grabbed a rebound and made a steal.

The Wild Gators fell to 0-3 for the season with an 86-29 loss to Dillon on Friday.

Chavis Nichols led Lake View with nine points in the loss. Nichols sank two three-point shots and five free throws and picked up five rebounds with an assist and a steal.

Xavier Johnson and Crishon Jordan each sank two two-point shots to add four points. Johnson grabbed a rebound and Jordan picked up two rebounds and made a steal. Duane Nichols hit a two-pointer and a free throw with a rebound, a steal, and a block.

Thomas Butler, Jeremiah Cribb, Anthony Bines, and Reco Brown each sank a two-pointer for Lake View. Brown grabbed a team-high nine rebounds; Butler grabbed two; Cribb picked up one; and Bines grabbed a rebound and made a steal. Jeremy Moody added a free throw for the Gators.

Lake View was scheduled to host Loris on Monday night and will be at Aynor tonight at 6:00 p.m. for their last game before the holiday break. The Gators will return to action on Tuesday, January 4, at East Clarendon.
