Lady Vikings Defeat Mullins 61-55

Latta’s Lady Vikings earned a 61-55 win over the Lady Auctioneers in Mullins on Tuesday, December 10, in girls basketball action.

The Lady Vikings took a 21-13 lead in the first quarter and outscored Mullins 13-9 in the second to lead 34-22 at the half. Mullins rallied for a 19-15 third quarter and outscored Latta 14-12 in the fourth, but it wasn’t enough to close the gap.

Latta’s Takeria Legette scored a team-high 19 points and mallory Townsend and Jessica Evans each added 13 points for the Vikings in the win. Brittany Burgess scored eight points, Maya Wright added seven, and Margaret Desser added one.

Mullins was led by Brittani McDonald with a game-high 20 points with Z. Williams adding 16 and Jaleah Lasane adding 11. Cassie Phillips scored four points for the Lady Auctioneers and Brianna Brantley and Zakariah Williams each added two.

Mullins fell to 3-2 overall while Latta improved to 4-0 for the season. In addition to their 63-39 win in the season opener against Marion, Latta also picked up an 82-56 win over Camden and a 58-46 win over Darlington in preseason tournament action.

The Lady Vikings are set to host Mullins tonight and Marion on Thursday before taking a break for the holidays. Both games start at 6:00 p.m., so make plans to attend to support our local teams!
