Dillon County residents, (left to right) Johnnie Luehrs and Jean Sox are among a group of more than 100 women from across the state attending the 2013 South Carolina Farm Bureau Annual Women’s Leadership Conference at Woodside Plantation in Aiken County.
Participants took part in workshops that addressed nutrition and misconceptions, personal development, and tools that they can use to promote agricultural literacy in their local counties. The conference concluded with a tour of historic Aiken.
Farm Bureau Women at county, state, and national levels coordinate agricultural education and promotional activities. Their work includes supporting important family and agricultural legislation, youth programs, educational activities, leadership development, and commodity promotions.
According to Director of Women’s Programs Faith Lawrimore, “SC Farm Bureau Women work hard to educate both students and consumers about South Carolina’s #1 industry – agribusiness. Their dedication, knowledge and interest in family farms contribute much to the organization, as they work for the future success of agriculture in our state.”
The SC Farm Bureau Federation is a non-profit membership organization formed to promote and preserve the work of family farmers and rural lifestyles across the state.
