Mr. Ray Garrett Boyd, 76, of Rowland, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at Southeastern Hospice House of Lumberton. He was born in Robeson County on October 13, 1936 to the late William Daniel Boyd and the late Ruth Atkinson Boyd.
He proudly served in the United States Army and later became the owner-operator of Missionary Appliances.
Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Garland Boyd and Daniel Boyd.
He is survived by his wife, Clara Rogers Boyd, of the home; two sons, Larry Ray Boyd, Sr. and wife, Daryl, of Rocky Mount, NC, and Donald Wayne Boyd and wife, Vickie, also of Rocky Mount, NC; one step-son, Ronald Jackson and wife, Debbie, of Jacksonville, FL; one daughter, Janet Hardison and husband, Carlos, of Rocky Mount, NC; one sister, Mildred West, of Lumberton; eight grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
A funeral service washeld on Friday, August 30, 2013 at 5:00 PM at Antioch Baptist Church of Lumberton, with Rev. Mark Meadows and Rev. James Stevens officiating. Burial followed at the West Family Cemetery.
A time of visitation was held Friday, prior to the service, from 3:30-5:00 PM at Antioch Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Southeastern Hospice House, 1100 Pine Run Drive, Lumberton, NC 28358.
