McLeod Physician Associates and McLeod Medical Center Dillon are pleased to announce that Joseph K. Wangeh, M.D. has joined McLeod Pediatrics Dillon.
Dr. Wangeh received his medical degree from University of Ghana Medical School, Accra, Ghana in 1994. He completed his Pediatrics Residency at Woodhull Hospital in Brooklyn, New York.
During undergraduate studies, Dr. Wangeh received a Certification with Distinction at Advance and Ordinary Levels at Saint Augustine’s College at Cape Coast, Ghana.
“I have always loved caring for the sick. When I was five years old we lived across from the medical clinic; I used to watch the doctor arrive each morning in his short, white coat. I have always enjoyed caring for and being around children. When I was in medical school, I had a professor that told me early on that I was going to be a Pediatrician. He was right.”
Dr. Wangeh has been providing medical care for Pediatric patients in Dillon on an as needed basis for the past few years and has become familiar with the patients, and their parents/families. He looks forward to becoming a member of the McLeod Pediatrics Dillon team. Dr. Wangeh will enhance the team of Dr. Ramirez and Stephanie Hodge, NP, and together they will continue to bring respect and compassion to the pediatric patients of Dillon.
As a physician, Dr. Wangeh would like to make a difference in the lives of his patients. “I have a passion for Adolescents. I want to help prepare them for the future, give them direction, challenge them for their future and make an impact on their life.” The office manager at McLeod Pediatrics Dillon, Jennie Turbeville added, “He’s got a tender spot and is an advocate for his patients”.
Dr. Wangeh has experiences in teaching in Physician Assistant Program, Pediatric Preceptor and University of South Carolina, Charleston, SC.
Dr. Wangeh is a native of Ghana. He has traveled a lot and lived in several places. He is married to Florence and together they have three boys. Dr. Wangeh and his family will be relocating to Dillon from Orangeburg, SC, where he was most recently Chief of Pediatrics with Family Health Center.
