Latta All Stars Claim District 10 Title with 10-0 Win Over McLeod Park

The 11-12 Latta All Stars poured in six runs in the fifth inning to defeat McLeod Park 10-0 to claim the 2013 Dixie Youth Majors District 10 championship on Wednesday, July 10.

Latta’s #5 Dylan Brewer hits a three-run homer in the fifth inning. Latta’s #1 Nate Lee followed with a walk-off three-run homer.

Latta scored two runs in the first inning on a two-run double from Trey Anderson, and Peyton Jackson hit a solo homer in the second to put Latta up 3-0. Jackson also doubled in the win.

Jason Norton and Dylan Brewer both singled in the bottom of the third and Brewer got the first hit in the fifth for Latta. Brewer hit a three-run homer in the third, and McLeod Carmichael and Deonte Stanley each recorded hits in the inning. Nate Lee finished up with a walk-off homer for three RBI to end the game 10-0.

McLeod Carmichael and Hunter Sawyer shared pitching duties for Latta for a one-hitter. Carmichael pitched three innings for four outs and Sawyer pitched two innings with two outs.

McLeod Park’s only hit came from Michael Hayes.

The Latta All Stars will represent District 10 during the South Carolina state tournament in Clemson, South Carolina, starting July 20.
