PLAYOFFS UPDATE: Vikings, Gators Win Titles; Wildcats Play Tonight

Both the Latta Vikings and Lake View Wild Gators claimed district championship titles on Wednesday night in the Class A state baseball playoffs.

The Vikings earned a 10-0 run-ruled win over Whale Branch to secure the District VIII title. Christian Hendrix got the win on the mound and Josh Bowen led Latta at bat. The Vikings will move on to the Lower State bracket where they will host District VII champ East Clarendon on Saturday at 6:00 p.m.

Lake View picked up a 6-1 win over Branchville to claim the District V title. Weston Rogers got the win on the mound and Darius Leonard picked up two RBIs to lead the Gators at bat. Lake View will travel on Saturday to face the winner of tonight’s game between Carvers Bay and Johnsonville.

In Class 2A, both Dillon Wildcat teams will be playing for the District VIII title tonight. The Dillon boys will host Waccamaw at 5:00 p.m., while the Dillon girls will host Aynor at 5:30 p.m.

In Class A softball action, Latta will host the winner of tonight’s game between Hannah-Pamplico and East Clarendon at 3:00 p.m.
