Gators Edge Raiders 5-4

The Lake View Wild Gators picked up 5-4 win over the Hannah-Pamplico Raiders on Tuesday night in varsity baseball action.

The Raiders took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning, but Lake View answered with two runs in the top of the fourth to trail 3-2. Hannah-Pamplico added a run in the bottom of the inning to go 4-2, and held the Gators off through the fifth inning to maintain the lead. But Lake View rallied in the top of the sixth for three runs, with Chris Ford hitting a single to score Roger Scott for the win.

Darius Leonard got credit for the win, pitching one inning for one walk and three outs. Vic Cooper took the loss for Hannah-Pamplico, pitching seven innings for seven hits, five runs, five earned runs, four walks, and two outs.

Carson Rogers went 2-for-4 with a RBI to lead Lake View and Luc Newell went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for the Gators. Lake View had seven hits and one error in the win.

Connor Mays went 1-for-3 with a double and a RBI to lead the Raiders, and Ethan McAllister went 1-for-3 with a RBI. The Raiders had a total of five hits and one error.

Lake View improves to 13-1 overall and 6-1 in Region 8-A, falling only to Latta. Hannah-Pamplico is now 5-7 overall and 2-4 in the region.

The Wild Gators will be off for the rest of spring break but will return to action on Tuesday, April 9, at Johnsonville.

Lake View will be back at home on Friday, April 12, to host Green Sea-Floyds at 5:30 p.m.
