Lake View’s Lady Gators Defeat Foxes 11-5, Fall to Raiders 4-3

Lake View’s Lady Wild Gators defeated Marion 11-5 on Wednesday night but fell 4-3 against Hannah-Pamplico on Friday.

The Lady Gators traveled to Marion on Wednesday and got off to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Marion got on the board with two runs in the bottom of the second and tied things 3-3 with a run in the third. But the Gators let loose with seven runs in the fourth inning for a 10-3 lead. The Lady Swamp Foxes added two runs in the bottom of the fifth, but Lake View picked up one more in the sixth and held off the Foxes for the 11-0 win.

Kayla Sanderson pitched seven innings for Lake View with 11 hits, five runs, three earned runs, and five outs. Pressley Spivey took the loss with 16 hits, 11 runs, nine earned runs, one walk, and one out across seven innings pitched.

Chelsea Spivey led the Gators at bat, going 3-for-5 with two RBIs, and Madison Matthews went 2-for-3 with a RBI. The Lady Gators had 16 hits and three errors in the win.

Marion’s Spivey led at bat, going 2-for-3. Marion had 11 hits and five errors in the game.

On Friday, the Lady Gators hosted Hannah-Pamplico and fell 4-3 as the Lady Raiders ran in four runs in the top of the fourth. Lake View scored one run each in the third, fifth ,and sixth innings, but couldn’t tie things up.

Kayla Sanderson took the loss, pitching seven innings for seven hits, four runs, four earned runs,and two outs. Hannah-Pamplico’s Lyndsey Prosser earned the win, pitching a complete game for 11 hits, three runs, three earned runs, two walks, three outs, and one hit by pitch.

Chelsea Spivey led the Lady Gators at bat, going 3-for-4 with a RBI. Sanderson went 2-for-4 with a RBI and Morgan Herlong with 2-for-3. The Wild Gators had 11 hits and two errors in the loss.

Amber Purvis and Jessi Sims each went 2-for-4 to lead the Raiders. Hannah-Pamplico had eight hits and two errors in the win.

Lake View’s record improves to 7-2 overall and 0-1 in Region 8-A. The Lady Gators were ranked second in the state in Class A softball in the recent coaches poll. Hannah-Pamplico improves to 1-3 overall and 1-1 in the region.

The Lady Gators were scheduled to host Marion on Monday night and will be at Carvers Bay on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. Lake View will be back home to host Johnsonville on Friday at 5:30 p.m. The Lady Flashes were ranked first in the state in the Class A softball poll.
