Local Students, Coaches Named to All-Region Teams

Latta’s Tianna Deberry was named Region 8A Player of the Year and Dillon’s Tyshanna Lester was named Region 8-2A’s Co-Player of the Year, while Dillon coaches Harold Wilson and Shawn Johnson were each named Region 8-2A Co-Coaches of the Year in the recent All-Region announcements.

Deberry helped lead the Lady Vikings to a region title with an undefeated 10-0 record this season. Lake View’s Tranya Ford was also named All-Region, along with Johnsonville’s Crystal Williams, Hannah-Pamplico’s Emily Pyett, and Creek Bridge’s Shayla Graves.

In Region 8A boys’ basketball, Johnsonville’s Cordea Wilson was named Player of the Year. Latta’s Tyrell Sabb and Lake View’s Darius Leonard were both named All-Region, joining Hannah-Pamplico’s Devontae Ellis, Creek Bridge’s Rashawn Rogers, and Kroshon Thompson of Green Sea-Floyds.

In Region 8-2A, Dillon’s Harold Wilson shared Coach of the Year honors with Marion’s John Washington. Marion’s Kevin Rowell was named Player of the Year.

Dillon’s Jalik Bethea, Olajuwan Fenton, Breon Page, and John Caulder were all named All-Region. Marion’s Rowell, Marqui Mckelvey, Terry Wiggins, and Michael Outlaw were also named to the list, along with Alex Brown, Dmitri Reaves, and Jalek Felton from Mullins. Aynor’s Christian Buie and Hunter Windham, Loris’s Tyree Floyd and Aaron Wheeler, and Waccamaw’s Noah Gulley and Adonis Williams were also named to the team.

In Region 8-2A girls basketball, Tyshanna Lester was named Co-Player of the Year, sharing the honor with Jaleah Lesane of Mullins. Dillon’s Shawn Johnson also shared honors, as he and Myron Gerald of Mullins were named Co-Coaches of the Year.

Dillon’s Khamele Manning, Brianna Lee, Yolanda Campbell, Dakerhia Samuel, and Tyshanna Lester were all named All-Region. Mullins’s Cassie Phillips, Niesha Godfrey, Brittani McDonald, Breanna Brantley, and Jaleah Lesane were also named to the team, along with Marion’s Shatora Dunkin, LaQuisha Kinney, and Courtney Davis. Waccamaw’s Mary Tyler, Taylor Foster, and Janae Rice; Aynor’s Brooke Barfield and Ayana Deas; and Loris’s LaReba Jackson and Nasrah Gill also joined the All-Region line-up.

In SCISA Region 4-2A, Marlboro Academy’s Malcolm Calhoun was named Player of the Year, with Will Bundy and Sam Pruitt joining him on the All-Region team.

Dillon Christian’s Will Brown was also named All-Region, along with The King’s Academy’s Ryan Towler and Christopher Dean; Pee Dee Academy’s Tyler Page; Williamsburg’s Christopher Kellahan and Tripp Ward; Carolina Academy’s Garrett Weaver; and Robert E. Lee’s Zach Gooding.
