Wildcats Defeat Mullins 64-60 in Overtime

The Dillon Wildcats took down the Auctioneers 64-60 in overtime on Tuesday night in Mullins in boys varsity basketball action.

With the game tied 48-48 at the end of the fourth, the Wildcats outscored Mullins 16-12 to claim the win in overtime.

Jalik Bethea led Dillon with a game-high 24 points. Shaqui Cabbagestalk scored nine, Olajuwan Fenton added eight, and John Caulder earned seven, with Breon Page adding four. Anthony Blue and Jaquan Knowlin each earned three points and Julius Saunders, Gerome McLeod, Avery McCall, and Eri’Reon Hayes each added two points in the win.

Alex Brown led Mullins with a team-high 23 points. Dmitri Reaves added nine, McGill earned six, Royal Purnell scored four, and Swinton and Earnell Legette each earned three with Graham adding one point for the Auctioneers.

Dillon’s record improves to 14-7 overall and 6-1 in Region 8-2A for second place. Mullins slips to third while Marion leads the region with a 7-0 record and a 16-4 record overall.

Dillon will be hosting the Swamp Foxes on Friday at 6:00 p.m. Marion was ranked fifth in the recent Class 2A South Carolina Basketball Coaches Association poll. Make plans to attend Friday to support our local team!
