Dana Zimmerman Nesbit Banta

WAXHAW – Dana Zimmerman Nesbit Banta died on December 24, 2012. Born March 12, 1938 in Saluda, SC, Mrs. Banta was the daughter of the late Daniel Monroe Zimmerman and the late Rubye Lindler Zimmerman. She is survived by her daughter, Danielle Nesbit Simon and her husband, Buddy Simon; her brother, Ralph Zimmerman and wife, Linda; her grandson, Clay Bowman; children and spouses: Bill and Angie Banta, James and Jean Banta, David and Nita Banta, Lee and Barbara Banta Collins, Ed and Bonnie Banta Staples, 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harvey Clay Nesbit, second husband, James Lloyd Banta, Jr. and daughter Mary Lindler Nesbit Bowman. She graduated from the University of South Carolina in Columbia and received her master’s degree from Winthrop. She had retired from the school system as a librarian. The family wishes to express their appreciation for the kindness of her many friends during her extended illness. Special appreciation is extended to Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region for their compassion and help during these long and difficult times. A celebration of Mrs. Banta will take place on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at 2PM at Waxhaw United Methodist Church. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family at this time.
